Abortion Surveillance

In 2023, I led a national campaign to petition Google to stop collecting and retaining location data that could reveal the locations of people crossing state lines to seek abortion care. I helped author investigative reports that indicated Google's failures, which was later featured in outlets like The Guardian, NBC News, and The Washington Post.

Data Economy Lab

In 2019 and 2020, I helped launch a body of work on data stewardship at the Aapti Institute's Data Economy Lab, to explore data stewardship as a paradigm of governance that re-imagine the data economy. I co-authored foundational texts for the Lab like Revenue Models for Data Stewardship.

Legislative Advocacy

I have worked on policy efforts with cross-sectoral coalitions to ban surveillance advertising and curtail monopoly power at the federal level, and have been involved in state fights to pass privacy legislation like the Massachusetts Data Privacy Protection Act, and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act.
